From the history and folklore side of things I've never really looked to see what they have so I'm not sure I'll find much.Serenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15106896818087205418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758267616106239950.post-60377726483672463602010-10-05T23:59:39.129+01:002010-10-05T23:59:39.129+01:00Oo, I'd love for you to find some books on Man...Oo, I'd love for you to find some books on Man while you are there as well :) Can't wait to see what you get.Treasahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11329640635613088585noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758267616106239950.post-16455641491121337242010-10-05T23:00:19.893+01:002010-10-05T23:00:19.893+01:00Definitely, round here the celebrations seem to ki...Definitely, round here the celebrations seem to kind of merge into each other.

No worries about the book - I have to make a trip to the library myself and I'm hoping I'll find it there. I really should look for some good books on Man while I'm there, it's something I'm woefully uninformed about.Serenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15106896818087205418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7758267616106239950.post-36931473107083428372010-10-05T18:14:51.655+01:002010-10-05T18:14:51.655+01:00There's definitely connections between Hogmana...There's definitely connections between Hogmanay, Bonfire Night and Samhain.

It's reasons like that why I get confused in doing Manx studies. Samhain was called Oie Houney back in the day, but now that's what they call New Year's. Now, in Man, Samhain is mostly called Hop nu Taa, or Oie Hop Tu Naa, but in doing research for traditions and such, I get so confused lol. Either way, I definitely think this is evidence to back up Samhain being the New Year at one time and it slowly having it's traditions spread out to other festival days.

Anyways, that book I just finished reading talked some about Hogmanay and Bonfire Night and connections to Hallowe'en so maybe it would be a good book to get a hold of. Wish I had scanned it to save ya the trouble but it's due back today to the university so I can't keep it any longer.Treasahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11329640635613088585noreply@blogger.com
